Museum Quality Pocket Watch 14kt, WW1 – von Richthofen, the Red Baron

MUSEUM QUALITY POCKET WATCH formerly the property of Manfred von Richthofen.

Manfred von Richthofen, Germany’s number one fighter ace in WW1. Credited with 80 aerial victories during approximately 10 months of frontline flying stands as a testament to his skills as an hunter pilot.

This exceptionally rare antique 100% original WWI era German pilot’s award is in an unusual full hunter case. Systeme Glashutte #164931 A1 GRADE CHRONOMETER 14kt (14 ct) gold and enamel pocket watch in mint collector’s condition.

This pocket watch is of significant historical value as it was awarded to the German pilot ace Manfred von Richthofen also known as The Red Baron. It was awarded for bravery and the watch came from his family’s estate sale. The watch also comes with the original fitted presentation morocco leather box.

The watch case displays the German merit order “Pour le merite” with blue enamel. (The Pour le Mérite, known informally as the Blue Max which was the Kingdom of Prussia’s highest order of merit. It was awarded strictly as recognition of extraordinary personal achievement). The watch face features a small picture of Richthofen.

Also included are a paperback copy of Richthofen’s autobiography The Red Baron and a copy of book, The Aircraft, Myths and Accomplishments of “The Red Baron”.
