Welcome
"One of the Largest Private Collections to Come on the Market"“THE SWORD OF PEACE”: VE Day 50th Anniversary
This special edition sword was produced by Wilkinson Sword to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of VE day in 1995.
The 85cm doubled edged blade is etched on both sides and highlighted with gold, with a dedication to all those who fought, served, worked and paid with their lives during the war. The gilt cross guard is in the form of a dove carrying two olive leaves. The blue leather grip represents the summer skies after the winter of war.
Overall length 110cm (~44″).
Manufactured by Wilkinson Sword Ltd., these commemorative limited edition swords were produced without scabbards but instead come mounted on a wooden display for wall hanging. At the bottom of the display board is a brass plaque with a quotation from Churchill “The Price of Freedom is Eternal Vigilance”.
This sword is in superb condition and is number 395.
I’ve had numerous enquiries about locating the number on the sword. Mine has the number (in gold) just below the gilt cross guard on the back side. It’s very easy to read – the numbers are not small at all on my sword.
