Portrait of Stephan Mallarme by Edouard Manet is on the front cover of this hardcover book. The dust jacket has a cutout on the front to allow the reader to only see the hand of Manet’s portrait, with a cigar of course.
Accompanying this book is a loosely laid in letter from John Taylor Book Ventures to Mary Soames, (Churchill’s daughter). John Taylor Book Ventures, the Research and Project Management team for this book, had been in touch with Mary Soames regarding the Churchill entries. According to the letter Mary Soames had hoped for a particular painting to be used, but it was not; however there are two Churchill entries on pages 95 & 97.
Also included is Mary Soames’ bookplate – loosely laid in.
2 very small else cuts (see pic) to the dust jacket cutout else in Near Fine Condition.
