Churchill Poster – WWII German Propaganda

Poster: “Churchills verdorbene Stimmung” (“Churchill’s Rotten Mood”)

Large poster: 32.5″ x 47″
Munich, Aug. 20, 1941

A “Wochenspruch” or weekly propaganda message attacking Winston Churchill’s efforts to downplay the effect of recent Germany victories, in part:

“Until now, Churchill used to comfort the English with lies, when they felt that his war was a bit dubious: the German counter-blockade? ‘Harmless,’ he said, ‘the Germans have swept away from all the seas.’ The British defeats? ‘Great,’ he said, ‘the most victorious retreats in the history of the world.’ The German victories? ‘Useless for her’, he said, ‘the Germans are already whistling on the last hole’… This is, after all, a true word from you, Mr. Churchill: neither Stalin nor Roosevelt will save you and your warmongering plutocracy clique from annihilation!”

Slight chipping around the edges, some splitting along the folds, and some toning, otherwise very good.
