Churchill Cameo Wedgwood Blue Jasperware Goblet

Here’s a Wedgwood blue glass goblet with a blue Jasperware cameo of Sir Winston Churchill.

This heavy blue glass goblet stands 5″ tall.

Etched in on the bottom of the goblet:
WEDGWOOD
ENGLAND

Produced for the Churchill Centenary in 1974, the blue jasper cameo portrait was modelled by Arthur Machin 1940 when he was a student on a scholarship for sculpture from the Royal College of Art.

Wedgwood resisted using Machin’s designs during the war as he was a conscientious objector and they feared a reaction from the public. However, after the war he became Master of Sculpture at the Royal Academy and designed the Queen’s portrait on postage stamps & coinage so Wedgwood used his designs from then on.

As New condition.

Price: $200
