"One of the Largest Private Collections to Come on the Market"Churchill Loving Cup – Royal Doulton 1940
This is a beautiful and rare 1940 Royal Doulton Winston Churchill Loving Cup. It was modeled by Charles Noke and issued in 1940 as a tribute to the Prime Minister.
The piece was quickly withdrawn as it was not considered a good likeness of the Prime Minister who was of course, very popular at the time.
This was the first Doulton Jug modeled after a contemporary personality and the first character jug to be discontinued. Color is an off white (cream) with two black handles.
Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or hairlines. It does however have overall fine crazing with light age coloration, mostly on the inside of the jug.
