Welcome
"One of the Largest Private Collections to Come on the Market"Churchill Bust by Tallent: ‘Strike Lighter’
This large terra cotta bust by Tallent around 1941 was modeled by Peter Lambda.
It features a removable cigar in Churchill’s mouth which can be struck on a special surface on the base to produce a flame.
Almost 9″ high, includes the striker.
To the rear there is a removable plug designed to hold lighter fuel which then soaks up in to the wick inside the cigar which can be ‘lit’.
Often these busts have tell-tale signs of smoke on the face, (black around the nose, mouth) from having lit the cigar. This particular “Strike Lighter” is very clean so presumably the previous owners (like me) have rarely, or never, lit the cigar.
Pristine, clean “Strike Lighters ” like this one are increasingly difficult to find.
